When fighting Majin Buu, the violence of the ki (ki convection resolution) is never enough to break him down into more than bits even when in a beam type ki extension.

Ki used to push off of objects, creating flight using displacement. Ki in space would have to be used differently for maneuverability. Due to vaccum state of air, higher velocities could be achieved. Ki vectoring used as a thrust impeller might be the ticket. This effect could be layered for velocities not possible in a heavy, air-filled atmosphere

Normal ki is like a CD, supposedly Majin Buu is like a DVD with multiple layers (5 in this case). Sawyer's "double layer" sozoweic technique of ki over time and circumstance is similar but may also only be a lingual coincidence
